WE SUPPORT
HEALTHY COMMUNITIES
Macedonia Community Development Corporation (MCDC) understands the importance of health and well-being and the role good health plays to make communities vibrant and strong. Our health and well-being program goals are to provide health care information to a wide range of communities in South Los Angeles and to continue to support ongoing community health dialogue among community and health care stakeholders.
HEALTH PROGRAMS
Throughout the year, MCDC hosts weekly food distribution and workshops on healthy nutrition and lifestyle. Through other community partnerships, we also offer several additional community health care education programs on topics such as Atrial fibrillation (AFib), multiple myeloma, blood cancer, prostate cancer and disease treatment options.
Our goal is to help our community become collectively healthier, and to live life to its fullest potential. Scroll down to learn more about our programs.

CAR T CELL THERAPY
Promoting awareness and treatment options for those impacted by lymphoma and multiple myeloma are featured workshops this year.
Despite transformational clinical impact, only 10-20% of patients that are eligible for CAR T are receiving one. Within this statistic, there are major disparities that further health inequities across race and socioeconomic status. Broadening access to this important modality will also be critical to long-term innovation and investment in the field
Despite the first cell therapy launching in 2017 in the United States and established efficacy and safety in heme malignancies, uptake of the class has been slow. Class share within multiple myeloma and lymphoma has failed to increase beyond 10 β 20% (dependent on disease and line of therapy), meaning many eligible patients are missing out on a one-time, impactful treatment option. This is even more stark for patients that are non-white, well-educated or socio-economically advantaged.
